Blog #17: Today's Only Assignment
Category: Moment · 2 min read
Not the week. Not the year. Not the decision you need to make by Friday.
Just today. One breath at a time.
The list waiting for you is long. You know the list. You rehearsed it at two in the morning. You opened your eyes already tired from carrying tomorrow before today has even started.
I want to give you something small, because small is what you have room for.
Today is the only assignment. Not the week ahead. Not the problem that has been unsolved for months. Not the conversation you do not yet have the words for. Not the future you are trying to secure for the people you love.
Just today. Just this hour. Just the next right thing, and then the one after that.
You are allowed to stop carrying tomorrow. Tomorrow will still be there when you arrive. It does not need you to rehearse it tonight.
What can you do today — only today — that is actually yours to do?
Start there. Finish there. Rest in between.
The long work of your life will still be waiting for you in the morning. And the God who has been walking with you through the long work is not asking you to complete it tonight.
He is asking you to stay present, today, to what is actually in front of you.
That is enough. That has always been enough.
If something here resonated with you, The Direction Series was written for exactly where you are. I would love to invite you in — you can find it at directionseries.com.
