Blog #24: You Are Allowed To Rest
Category: Moment · 1 min read
Not when everything is done.
Not when everyone is okay.
Now.
As an act of trust, not as a reward for finishing.
You've been treating rest like a wage — something you'll collect once you've earned it, once the list is clear, once the people who depend on you are finally settled. But the list is never clear.
The people are never done needing you.
By that math, you will never rest, because the conditions you've set will never arrive.
So here is the quiet permission you may have been waiting for: you can stop now. Not because the work is finished.
Because you were never meant to carry it without ever setting it down.
There's a line in the Psalms that undoes me a little every time: he gives to his beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2). It comes right after a verse about rising early, staying up late, and eating the bread of anxious toil — as if to say, all that striving you were sure was required?
Rest was the gift the whole time.
Set it down. Just for tonight.
You are allowed.
If something here resonated with you, The Direction Series was written for exactly where you are. I would love to invite you in — you can find it at directionseries.com.
